Santa visits St. James’s Primary School

Santa took time out of his busy schedule to visit all the boys and girls in school today.
Take a look at his list and check it twice to see if your name is on it!!!

School choir sings at the Black Santa Appeal

On Tuesday, the 15th of December, the school choir braved the elements to make their way to a cold and wet Dawson Street. When they got there they wowed passers-by as they sang Christmas carols and drummed on the Samba drums. They did all this in the name of raising money for charity.

Well done to everyone involved!

The Visit of the Sam Maguire Cup

On Wednesday the 9th of December we had visit from Dublin footballer Dean Rock and the Sam Maguire cup. Dean spoke to us about what it takes to become a Dublin footballer and what is involved in the training. Hopefully in a few years time a few of our past pupils will be coming back to our hall with the Sam Maguire cup!

SWICN Awards

We are very proud of one of our 6th Class pupils who recently received a special award in recognition of her achievements in Music and Dance. This will most certainly be the first of many!!!

1916 Commemorations

On Wednesday the 11th of November two members of the Irish army arrived at our school to present us with an Irish flag and our very own copy of the proclamation of the Irish Republic.  We learnt how to look after our flag and what the colours represent. We also had a very special visitor, John Stephenson, whose grandfather fought at the GPO in 1916. He told us all about the rising and about all the interesting places in our locality where fighting actually took place. We had a great day.

First Class Mickey Mouse Club

Squeak! Squeak!

We turned into mice for the school concert in March.

We opened up the show and did our parents, our teachers, Ms. Barrer and ourselves proud! Squeak!

We think mice are rather nice,

Their tails are long,

Their faces are small,

They haven’t any chins at all.

Their ears are pink,

Their teeth are white,

They run about the house at night!

They nibble things they shouldn’t touch,

And no-one seems to like them much!

But, we think mice are NICE!

Room 6 found gold!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day from all of the boys and girls in Ms. Bell’s 1st Class :)

We used oil pastels in every colour of the rainbow to make our magical masterpieces.

Fairies in the Botanic Gardens

In October we were ‘away with the fairies’ in the Botanic Gardens.

For our Creativity in the Classroom with Liz the artist, we were exploring the small and magical world of fairies.

We looked all around us to see where the fairies live.

It was really fun searching for the fairies, we even imagined what it would be like to be fairies!

There were signs of them everywhere! We looked at their tools and some of their houses!

We even found some friends of the fairies in the Gardens!

The fairies had very interesting sculptures and creations.

We saw the beautiful flowers in the Gardens that the fairies keep safe and strong.
