We loved hearing the story ‘The Gingerbread Man’, so we decided to make our own!20151218_092123

We used gingerbread dough, cookie cutters, rolling pins and lots of bits and bobs to decorate them.

Nativity Play 2015

On Wednesday morning, a very well rehearsed and professional 1st Class took to the stage to perform the Nativity Play. Assisted by their teachers, Ms. Lambe, Ms. Doherty, Mrs. Barror and the school choir, they put on a fantastic performance. Well done to everyone involved. Watch the video below to get a taste of what happened.

Santa visits St. James’s Primary School

Santa took time out of his busy schedule to visit all the boys and girls in school today.
Take a look at his list and check it twice to see if your name is on it!!!

School choir sings at the Black Santa Appeal

On Tuesday, the 15th of December, the school choir braved the elements to make their way to a cold and wet Dawson Street. When they got there they wowed passers-by as they sang Christmas carols and drummed on the Samba drums. They did all this in the name of raising money for charity.

Well done to everyone involved!

The Visit of the Sam Maguire Cup

On Wednesday the 9th of December we had visit from Dublin footballer Dean Rock and the Sam Maguire cup. Dean spoke to us about what it takes to become a Dublin footballer and what is involved in the training. Hopefully in a few years time a few of our past pupils will be coming back to our hall with the Sam Maguire cup!

SWICN Awards

We are very proud of one of our 6th Class pupils who recently received a special award in recognition of her achievements in Music and Dance. This will most certainly be the first of many!!!

1916 Commemorations

On Wednesday the 11th of November two members of the Irish army arrived at our school to present us with an Irish flag and our very own copy of the proclamation of the Irish Republic.  We learnt how to look after our flag and what the colours represent. We also had a very special visitor, John Stephenson, whose grandfather fought at the GPO in 1916. He told us all about the rising and about all the interesting places in our locality where fighting actually took place. We had a great day.
