Congratulations to five of our pupils on the honour of winning scholarships to James St CBS – Janice Comerford, Shauna O’Neill, Josh Kenny, Emma Durojaiye and Zoe McGougan. They had the pleasure of meeting RTE presenter Miriam O’Callaghan at the award ceremony held in the CBS.
Our pupils had a lovely treat today with the arrival of an ice cream van to the school. Every pupil was treated to a ’99’ ice cream cone to enjoy in the fabulous sunshine…even the teachers got to indulge.
The sound of the van’s jingle even made some of the boys and girls dance as they waited!!
Last Friday, the school and Early Focus project were delighted to accept the Mission Possible: School Achievement first place award for the promotion and support of positive mental health. Ms Flynn, Ms Hogan and Ms Curran, along with some of our pupils had the pleasure of accepting the award at a ceremony in St Patrick’s Hospital.
Flower Arranging continues to be a big success in the Haven with a number of parents taking part. The last session for this term takes place next Friday, 7th April at 9.15 and all are welcome.
Thank you Paul for this beautiful arrangement for our school’s front desk.
Some of our 5th class pupils were lucky enough to be invited to the launch of the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Initiative in the CBS Library. We met PJ Lynch, author and illustrator of The Boy Who Fell Off The Mayflower and he also illustrated Ryan Tubridy’s book, Patrick and the President. He spoke to us about the stories and illustrations in his books and told how he used his daughter as a model in his books. PJ used charcoal to complete some drawings of our pupils, which we will display in the school. Many thanks to the CBS and Siobhan, the librarian, for the invitation.
We are all very proud of our 2nd Class pupils who made their First Communion today. They all looked fantastic and the ceremony was beautiful. Many thanks to all the parents for their support. We have to say a special thank you to Ms O’Neill, Ms Berkery and Chrissie for all their hard work in preparing their classes for the sacrament, and also HUGE THANKS to Helen for her superb art work in the Church. Our choir preformed brilliantly, thanks to Mr Cronin and Ms Dodrill. Thank you also to Fr John and the parish team.
