Funday Friday in St James’s Primary School

Our pupils had a lovely treat today with the arrival of an ice cream van to the school. Every pupil was treated to a ’99’ ice cream cone to enjoy in the fabulous sunshine…even the teachers got to indulge.

Children’s Laureate launches DEAR in James St CBS

Some of our 5th class pupils were lucky enough to be invited to the launch of the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Initiative in the CBS Library. We met PJ Lynch, author and illustrator of The Boy Who Fell Off The Mayflower and he also illustrated Ryan Tubridy’s book, Patrick and the President. He spoke to us about the stories and illustrations in his books and told how he used his daughter as a model in his books. PJ used charcoal to complete some drawings of our pupils, which we will display in the school. Many thanks to the CBS and Siobhan, the librarian, for the invitation.

First Communion in St James’s Primary School

We are all very proud of our 2nd Class pupils who made their First Communion today. They all looked fantastic and the ceremony was beautiful. Many thanks to all the parents for their support. We have to say a special thank you to Ms O’Neill, Ms Berkery and Chrissie for all their hard work in preparing their classes for the sacrament, and also HUGE THANKS to Helen for her superb art work in the Church. Our choir preformed brilliantly, thanks to Mr Cronin and Ms Dodrill. Thank you also to Fr John and the parish team.1490973955031 (1)

Amazing work done on the school garden!!

On Friday the 10th of March volunteers from Amdocs Software Systems came in to our school to revamp our school garden.

They cleared weeds, cleaned out the pond, varnished the benches and planted lovely new flowers for us to enjoy. They did absolutely trojan work!!

This was all organised by Volunteer Ireland and we are extremely grateful for their support.

Take a look for yourself…

Walk on Wednesday!!

On Wednesday the 15th of February both staff and students took part in our first Walk on Wednesday. This was organised by the Ms. Mahon and her very hard working Green School Committee.

As you can see from the pictures we had two empty car parks and it was great to see the whole school take part on the day.

Well done to Ms. Mahon and her Green School Committee for all the work they put into organising the day.
