Funday Friday in St James’s Primary School

Our pupils had a lovely treat today with the arrival of an ice cream van to the school. Every pupil was treated to a ’99’ ice cream cone to enjoy in the fabulous sunshine…even the teachers got to indulge.

The sound of the van’s jingle even made some of the boys and girls dance as they waited!!

Children’s Laureate launches DEAR in James St CBS

Some of our 5th class pupils were lucky enough to be invited to the launch of the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Initiative in the CBS Library. We met PJ Lynch, author and illustrator of The Boy Who Fell Off The Mayflower and he also illustrated Ryan Tubridy’s book, Patrick and the President. He spoke to us about the stories and illustrations in his books and told how he used his daughter as a model in his books. PJ used charcoal to complete some drawings of our pupils, which we will display in the school. Many thanks to the CBS and Siobhan, the librarian, for the invitation.

We have to say a special thank you to Ms O’Neill, Ms Berkery and Chrissie for all their hard work in preparing their classes for the sacrament, and also HUGE THANKS to Helen for her superb art work in the Church. Our choir preformed brilliantly, thanks to Mr Cronin and Ms Dodrill. Thank you also to Fr John and the parish team.1490973955031 (1)

FLOWER ARRANGING

In the run up to Christmas, we were joined once again by Maria, a very talented lady, for some flower arranging classes. The classes proved to be very popular and we have some very talented parents in our school. Well done to all the parents who attended the classes and showed such great talent. If you are interested in attending a flower arranging class, contact Yvonne in the school or Sr Rita in the Haven.

At the beginning of December, our parents got very creative and joined our Christmas baking class. We baked the cakes on week one and iced them the following week. We had great fun and made some fantastic cakes.
