1916 Commemorations
On Wednesday the 11th of November two members of the Irish army arrived at our school to present us with an Irish flag and our very own copy of the proclamation of the Irish Republic. We learnt how to look after our flag and what the colours represent. We also had a very special visitor, John Stephenson, whose grandfather fought at the GPO in 1916. He told us all about the rising and about all the interesting places in our locality where fighting actually took place. We had a great day.

Welcome to St James’s Primary School
Last Thursday week at 10am, lots of new boys and girls came to St James’s Primary School for their very first day of primary school. The place was busy with families and children alike finding their way to their new classrooms to meet their new teachers, Miss Fisher and Miss Kavanagh. Their teachers were so excited to finally welcome them into the classroom where they will spend their first year of school learning lots of new things in a fun and active way.
It’s hard to believe the first two weeks have finished and already the children have learned lots of new songs, visited the PE hall and the cool school yard, coloured bright pictures and made lots of new friends including the Army Band. It’s sure to be a busy year in Junior Infants, so make sure to check into the school website throughout the year to see some photographs that will show you the cool learning activities the children get involved in!
